While the Macomber T-Bar has served the Eaglebrook School quite well for some years, it was over a quarter of a century old and required liftline snowmaking, as well as midstation manning (the midstation and top station were run by students). With the creation of a top to bottom novice trail in the mid 1990s, a top to bottom chairlift was now feasible for all abilities.

Thanks to the donation of former Olympian and George Macomber (class of 1941), Eaglebrook acquired a Doppelmayr double chairlift from Wachusett. Installed for the 2000-2001 season, the chairlift followed a longer line slightly to the north of the now-removed T-Bar. In addition, the chairlift increased the vertical drop of the ski area both below and above the former T-Bar line.
