After operating for three decades as roughly the same sized ski area, Ragged Mountain decided to take advantage of the bankruptcy and liquidation of nearby King Ridge ski area. Amongst the items purchased by Ragged at auction was a Hall triple chairlift.

Installed to the west of the main peak and operated by a Von Roll drive, the Spear Mountain Triple would serve nearly 1,000 vertical feet starting in the 1996-97 season. 50 acres of trails of all abilities were opened for the first season of the new peak. Snowmaking pipe came from military surplus.

An expert glade area between Spear Mountain and the main mountain, originally named Spook's Gorge, would eventually be added. The area is now known as "The Ravine."

Upgrading from having two T-Bars for novice skiers, Ragged had installed a double chairlift on the Village Green slope in 1992.

After opening Spear Mountain, the next step was to install a higher capacity lift for novices, replacing the Meadow T-Bar.

A used Borvig-Hall combination triple chairlift was installed for the 1998-99 season, serving a new slope called the Barnyard. The new complex provided a larger, more isolated area for novices.

In 2009, the Army Corps of Engineers published maps of proposed expansion at Ragged Mountain. Included in the proposal was the Old Canada Road area, located adjacent to the Barnyard area.

The Old Canada Road area would be adjacent to home sites, as well as a lift and trails leading to the Spear Mountain complex and the Barnyard area.

It is unknown if or when the area will be developed.

After developing Spear Mountain, the Endriunas brothers set their sights on developing the main and east peaks. The installation of a high speed detachable six person chairlift in 2002 helped pave the way to providing the uphill capacity to bring skiers to another new pod.

The ownership group ran into financial problems thereafter and eventually left the ski industry.

In 2009, the Army Corps of Engineers published maps of proposed expansion at Ragged Mountain. Included in the proposal was the Pinnacle Peak area, located east of the main mountain.

While the Pinnacle Peak pod would likely not have a developed base area, it would be adjacent to home sites, as well as lifts and trails leading to base facilities. The pod would likely feature one chairlift and about half a dozen new trails.

As of spring 2012, initial trail clearing has been observed.
