In conjunction further real estate development, Bolton Valley decided to grow the facility southward in its first significant on-mountain expansion since the 1960s. With a base area nearly 600 feet lower than the main one, the new development would allow for a significantly increased vertical drop figure (from 1,100 to 1,625 feet).

The complex was initially composed of 5 trails and a new Doppelmayr fixed grip quad chairlift. The lift would run 3,790 feet over the course of 940 vertical feet. While advertised in the fall of 1986, the complex likely did not open until later in 1987, or perhaps as late as January of 1988.

Nine more acres of terrain would be added to the complex for the 1989-90 season.

Having recently taken over a financially troubled ski area in 2002 (including not operating in 1998-1999), new ownership decided to take action.

In 2005, the owners were able to secure $650,000 low-interest Federal loan to help with the purchase of a new, $1.3 million Doppelmayr CTEC fixed grip quad chairlift. Replacing the former Vista Chair, the new 955 vertical foot Vista Quad allowed for top-to-main-lodge skiing from Vista Peak for the first time ever. At 4,389 feet long, it would be the second longest chairlift at the ski area. In addition to providing a modern lift from the base area (despite being the newest double chairlift at Bolton Valley, the Vista Chair was also one of the most heavily used), the new quad also allowed for more scalable operations during non-peak times.

In addition to the chairlift, which extended above the former Vista Chair, additional terrain was added off Vista Peak, including the intermediate Alta Vista trail.
