After a decade of operating as a small T-Bar area, a new 3,891 foot Hall double chairlift was installed to near the top of the ski area, increasingly the vertical drop to about 800 vertical feet. About half a dozen new trails were added in conjunction with the lift.

The double chairlift would remain in operation for the balance of Timber Ridge's independent operation, as well as when it was part of Magic Mountain. Upon Magic's closing, the chairlift was removed and reinstalled at Smuggler's Notch.

A decade after expanding the ski area to the top of the peak with a new double chairlift, plans were made to add new trails and lift in 1982. Dubbed the Southbrook area, three new trails were cut, generally intermediate in design. A 3,600 foot long, 700 vertical foot T-Bar was planned, as well as a real estate development.

The lift was never installed, nor was the residential area developed, likely due to a lack of interest and financial resources. While the trails were constructed, portions were inaccessible without the planned lift.

A small rope tow may have served the lower portion of the area briefly.

Along with the development of the Southbrook area, plans were made to build a complex to the north of the main chairlift. The new lift would have covered 650 to 850 vertical feet over a 3,000 foot run, ending above the existing ski area summit. Three trails and a glade would have been cut.

While the development was planned for the 1983-84 season, construction never started, as the Southbrook expansion was halted. Timber Ridge would soon be purchased by Magic Mountain with connector trails going through the top portion of the proposed North Glacier complex.
